For 50 years, the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has been protecting the health and value of America’s agricultural. It is a vital mission. Healthy and profitable American agriculture provides food and clothing for countless people worldwide, and farming is a key pillar of our U.S. economy. APHIS fights the battles when foreign livestock diseases show up, like the recent avian influenza that hit U.S. poultry flocks -- or when destructive insects like Mexican fruit flies and cattle fever ticks cross the southern border. There are always new threats, and USDA APHIS is here to control them.
